Magical Thinking: NOAH T. PARNES!
What magical thinking have you engaged in lately?
I’ve been thinking a lot about the end of the world, which feels like maybe the wrong kind of magic, but perhaps the right kind of magic is the small green shoots that pop up out of the ash afterwards. Everything in cycles.
If you were a magician, what would be your best trick?
I’d love to be a shapeshifter. Doing drag makeup takes a pretty long time, so it’d be sick if I could just snap my fingers and immediately become something new. Plus I could turn into a bird and fly.
Do you know someone who has a ~magical touch~? What is it?
Any director who has taken any piece of writing and injected life into it has a true magic touch. I feel so lucky to have worked with a number of directors (including, duh, Clare Mottola) who have given this generous and incredible gift!
What has been your favorite magical moment in your life so far?
There have been a lot! Let’s say one of my favorites is seeing caterpillars hatch from eggs I find in my backyard, eat a lot of milkweed, spin themselves into green chrysalises with tiny gold dots, and then emerge as monarch butterflies. Pretty similar to my shapeshifter hope, as a matter of fact. I love magic that changes things!
