Retrospect(ive): Hager
What was your first CP year?
My first year was Sweet 16!
Who brought you into the CP family/ How did you get involved?
Clare. The one and only.
What has been the most memorable CP play you have seen or worked on and why?
My play that first year remains my most memorable, Status Update, by Vince Gatton. Did you know that after that I basically became Vince's muse? Anyways, that play spoke to me like nothing had ever before. And then I was the President as a dog in another play and I feel I really committed to my work there. I think I added a big wag to my "woof"!
Most memorable to watch that year was the one about the teenage girls and one of them going off to lose her virginity with her boyfriend. Those girls brought every piece of teenage girlhood to life doing that one.
But truthfully, there are so many pieces that move me and stick with me in a lasting way each year. That's the magic of Cherry Picking.
So you win the cherry pie, who are you sharing it with?
I HAVE WON THE CHERRY PIE! My second or third year I believe. If I won it again, I would share it with all Cherry Pickers. But that year I donated it back to be raffled off again the next night.
CP gives me the courage to…
It gives me the courage to do Cherry Picking.
What have you learned during quarantine that you’d like to carry with you in the future?
That time is a gift? I haven't experienced this so-called blessing of time during quarantine, but I see people all over social media loving it: making bread, cleaning out closets, redecorating, learning new instruments. So if I could, I would want to take that with me. If I had had the time to do it....
