What magical thinking have you engaged in lately?

I was absolutely stuck for an idea for my play this year. I was ready to just give up. Then at The Tony Awards, when Deidre O’Connell won for Best Actress in a Play she encouraged people to make “the weird art that is haunting me.” I’ve always had better success when I take that approach and that speech led to my writing this “weird, haunting” play.

If you were a magician, what would be your best trick?

I would be able to go back in time by 5 minutes. That would allow me to rewind and correct those times when I screwed up or wanted to take back something I said. Or say it better.

Do you know someone who has a ~magical touch~? What is it?

My friend Janece can make anybody she’s talking to feel like the most important person in the world.

What has been your favorite magical moment in your life so far?

Meeting my husband over 22 years ago. We were at a party and only as we were leaving did we strike up a conversation. We then talked for over two hours outside the party. We’ve been together ever since.  I can’t imagine what my life would be like if not for that moment.
