"Do what scares you most:" Adulting 101 with the one and only Clare Mottola.

What is the most memorable moment from your 18th year?

Surviving my first year of undergrad in a conservatory leaves me with many a memory.

When did you feel like you became an adult?

Years ago, while on vacation, I went out to dinner by myself with a book, long before cell phones were a thing, and felt very happy.

What is the most important rule you follow?

Do what scares you most.

What is the worst rule you’ve broken?

The worst?  That's for another time.  But up there is... No trespassing.  I can't say much more but it involves a swimming pool, booze, underpants, and the police.  You might be able to prod Chris Tomaino for details. But I'm pretty sure what happens in Bloomington, stays in Bloomington.

What rule would you love to break, but haven’t?

I've barely met a rule that I've regretted not breaking.

Who’s the biggest rule-breaker you know?

I have a few sisters who often present as very upstanding, but they have most definitely taught me a thing or two about bending rules, often to the point of breaking.  And of course we all learned from the greatest- our mom, Carmen.

What rule do you wish more people would follow?
Listen.
